Certified Diverse Suppliers are companies majority-owned, operated, and controlled by Canadians from a marginalized community. These businesses face unique economic barriers because of their owners’ identity, and can include:
- Canadians with Disabilities
- Veterans
- Queer or 2SLGBTQI+ persons
- Visible Minorities
- Indigenous Canadians
IWSCC is a Supplier Diversity Council: A non-profit organization that supports a specific group of business owners. For IWSCC, that’s Veterans and Canadians with disabilities. Organizations like ours certify companies as Certified Diverse Suppliers, and we help them achieve success in the wide world of Canadian procurement.
What is Procurement?
Procurement is the economic term for businesses buying and selling things. That’s a broad definition, but “procurement” has some more common uses:
- Procurement is usually Business – to – Business or “B2B.” Selling your products to customers the old-fashioned way usually isn’t called procurement; that’s Business – to – Consumer or “B2C.”
- Procurement creates Supply Chains. When a business is “procuring” something, it usually means they are buying something to re-sell or make into something else, or they’re buying services they need to run their business.
- Procurement is BIG. The term is usually used by big organizations with big supply chains spending big money.
Put it all together and IWSCC Certification helps Veteran-Owned and Disabled-Owned businesses sell their products to Canada’s biggest supply chains in government, academic institutions, private corporations, and more.
